     When scuba man Simon O'Keefe (Jay Harrington) suddenly shows up at Ava's sandy doorstep, Johnny and Derrick both have a hard time coping with a new man in Ava's life.  The proverbial door has been left half open for both Johnny and Ava's relationship to grow for so long now, but neither one seems to know how to push it open all the way. Johnny tries to put on an air of indifference, but whenever Ava shows up on the scene, the beautiful girl du jour he is with gets overshadowed by Ava's presence. When Ava makes a decision to date Simon, Derrick becomes bitter and shows animosity towards Simon because he believes Ava loves Johnny. Johnny pulls Derrick aside and advises him to give Simon a chance for Ava's sake.  Derrick agrees and goes off to amend things with Simon. But those noble words of wisdom he gave to Derrick, eat away at Johnny when he is alone.
