     Johnny agrees to stay with the kids while Ava is in Europe. He ventures into a skateboarding bet with Derrick, but does not fair well with the outcome. He hurts his arm and scrapes his head.  It is the first thing Ava notices when she connects with him on their web chat. She misses Johnny and the family. In the meantime, Johnny continues on with his parental duties and takes Nikki to her poetry reading rehearsal. It does not go well. Nervous Nikki begins to projectile vomit.  In the next web chat, Ava learns of Nikki's problem and also learns that Bradin has purchased a $7,000 TV. Ava makes a decision and starts her trek home. She telephones Johnny and tells him there are things they need to discuss when she gets home. Ava ends the call and Johnny looks at the phone, pondering what she meant.  Johnny, Amber and Derrick accompany Nikki to her poetry reading. Johnny finds out that Nikki has been drinking to calm her nerves down. He is shocked. He gives her a pep talk emphasizing that drinking alcohol is not the answer. He tells her to take a deep breath, put her head down and plow through it. Ava arrives at the theater just in time to hear the reading. It is a heartfelt poem that pays tribute to Johnny and Ava for being the new light in her life after her parents passed away. Johnny and Ava are noticeably warmed and moved by the tribute. They hold each other's hand.
